On Sunday, March 9, former McMinn County High School standout Ollie Akens’ current college team, the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders, won 5-0 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.

The game took place at Reese Smith Jr Field. This was their third matchup against the Golden Grizzlies this season.

The Blue Raiders’ next game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 at 6 p.m. at Reese Smith Jr Field against Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.
