Deputy Jeff Wagner is 33 years old and was born and raised in Cleveland, TN. He is a graduate of Bradley Central High School. Wagner has dedicated over half of his life to government service. He began his career as an explorer on the Bradley County Rescue Squad at only 15 years old. After he turned 18 years old, he decided to join Bradley County Fire as a fireman. After they merged together as Bradley County Fire Rescue, he continued as a member for 5 more years before taking on a position in public health. Deputy Wagner attended the Cleveland State Community College Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2014, where he received his P.O.S.T Certification, and immediately began his career at BCSO. He has worked as a full time Patrol Deputy for 8 years now.
Jeff’s 9-year-old daughter is his pride and joy. He stated that his #1 goal is to be the best father he can be and hopes that she is always proud of him. He truly values spending time with his family and appreciates the support of his loving and patient girlfriend of 2 ½ years. Some of his hobbies include traveling and salt water fishing.
When asked why he chose a career in law enforcement, Wagner explained that citizens call upon law enforcement in their most desperate hour, when they need immediate help. As a graduate of the Crisis Intervention Training program, Wagner strives to be a listening ear when someone needs a friend and aims to encourage individuals when they need it most. The CIT training is “designed to improve officers’ ability to safely intervene, link consumers to mental health services, and divert them from the criminal justice system, when appropriate”. Wagner stated that this week of class had an impact on both his personal and professional life, and further taught him how to use his acquired de-escalation skills to positively turn lives around.
Deputy Wagner’s favorite part of being a BCSO Deputy is the opportunity to train new team members. As a Field Training Officer (FTO), Wagner stated he intends to instill valuable lessons within his trainees that they may be able to use in the future.
BCSO Lt. Kevin Chastain added, “Jeff is very hard working and always willing to go above and beyond for his team and the citizens of Bradley County. He is a valuable asset to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and highly respected by his partners as a leader and mentor.
Thank you for your service, Deputy Wagner! Keep up the good work.
