Bradley County Sheriff's Office School resource officer honored during school board meeting

098e

On April 20, 2022 the Bradley County 911 Center received an out-of-state phone call informing dispatchers of a possible suspicious bag at Lake Forest Middle School.  The phone call was transferred from another school district in Minnesota, where the call originated. Deputy Craig Frost, the School Resource Officer at Lake Forest Middle, was notified of the threat as other deputies responded to the scene.  Deputy Frost rapidly coordinated an evacuation of the school and began to assess the situation with a primary focus in one of the Lake Forest classrooms.  The Cleveland Police Department Bomb Squad was notified and responded for further assistance by performing a sweep of the school using a Cleveland PD K-9.  Lt. Kevin White, who heads the School Threat Assessment Team, began to investigate the incident beginning with the initial phone call into dispatch and its validity.  The threat was determined to be totally false and not even intended for Lake Forest Middle School. The process of eliminating the claim while ensuring the safety of students and faculty was handled by Deputy Frost especially well due to his experience in this field.  Deputy Frost is highly trained in these types of incidents as he is a former Special Agent with the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, Bomb and Arson Section.

The Bradley County School Board honored Deputy Frost during their Tuesday meeting this week. We would also like to commend Deputy Frost for his exceptional response to the threat and his safe handling of the Lake Forest students and faculty. Deputy Craig Frost is valuable asset to this community and the School Resource Officer program.
