The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office held a graduation ceremony for seven new members of Explorer Post 986 last night at the SCSO Training Academy. These high school students, ages 14-17, successfully completed a six-week course. The purpose of the SCSO Law Enforcement Explorer Program is to prepare young people with a working knowledge of law enforcement policy and procedures to make ethical and moral choices in their journey should they pursue a career in the criminal justice field and to become outstanding and contributing members of society.
Special guests for the graduation program included Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr., Chief Deputy Scott Wright, members of the SCSO Command Staff, Chaplain Lieutenant Danny Frizzell, and instructors Deputy Mary Andrus and Deputy Stephen Potts. Congratulations new explorers.
