Bradley County Sheriff's Office Deputy Whitney Payne Named Officer of the Month

BCSO Deputy Whitney Payne is being recognized as the Honda of Cleveland Officer of the Month.

Payne stood out, July 5th, by going above and beyond to help a Bradley County citizen that was the victim of a scam.  The scam started out like many – a convincing phone call that you’ve won!  The citizen was manipulated into mailing a cashier’s check for just over $6,800.00 in order to be eligible to receive their winnings.  Fortunately, our would-be victim kept their shipping label.  Instead of simply taking the report and leaving to go to the next call, Payne chose to investigate further.  Deputy Payne used the shipping label, contacted UPS, and was able to track the cashiers check down to the UPS hub in Atlanta, GA.  She requested an intercept of the package and it be returned to the sender.  Days later, the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office was notified that our citizen recovered the cashiers check, thus avoiding the loss.

A huge shout out to Whitney Payne for being savvy – going above and beyond – and saving one of our citizens over $6,800.  Job well done!
