Tennessee Wesleyan University Five Goals Help Women's Soccer to Fifth Straight Win

The women's soccer team went on the road in search of their fifth consecutive victory on Wednesday. The team trying to prevent the team from picking up that win was the Johnson University Lady Royals.

The first half of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) saw the Lady Bulldogs' offense take control, outshooting the opponents 16-2 in the first 45 minutes. The team saw shots from Jill De Waal, Cristina Escrig, Jordan Smith, Claudia Lopez del Pino, Krista Eik Hardardottir, Iris Moll, Dantje Klomp, and Lucia Bonfante in the first half. Unfortunately, those shots did not find the back of the net and the game went into the halftime break tied 0-0.

In the second half, TWU scored four goals in a span of 18 minutes. De Waal had the first goal of the game in the 50th minute of the contest. Seven minutes later, Hardardottir scored on an Escrig assist to make the lead two goals. After another seven minutes had passed, De Waal added her second goal of the game to make the score 3-0. The fourth goal in the 18-minute time span came four minutes after the third by Klomp, who scored her first career goal on a Moll assist. Alyssa Bridges closed out the scoring, giving the team a 5-0 win for their fifth straight win.

Laia Roch Font had five saves in the net for the Lady Bulldogs.

Tennessee Wesleyan (7-3, 6-1 AAC) returns home for their next game. The team will host No. 20 Truett McConnell University for Homecoming on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
