Lee University Women's Soccer Records 1-1 Tie At AUM

The Lee University women's soccer team came away with a 1-1 tie against Auburn University at Montgomery Sunday afternoon. The Lady Flames (8-2-5, 6-2-3) had to play the final 76 minutes down a player after a player was sent off with a red card.

"I'm really proud of the girls' effort," said Lee head coach Chris Hennessey. "They adapted, responded and left everything out on the field. I couldn't have asked for more from them."

AUM (3-9-2, 3-6-2 GSC) took advantage of the call to outshoot the Lady Flames 7-4 in the first half with four of those shots placed on goal. Lee responded with five shots to AUM's four in the final 45 minutes.

The Warhawks cracked the scoreboard in the 68th minute with a goal by Lauren Akemon. Less than five minutes later, Grace Berry tallied the equalizer with an assist by Avery Sides.

Mollie Wheeler recorded four saves, while AUM's Karla Gaytan posted two saves.

The Lady Flames return to Ray Conn Sports Complex this Friday (October 21) to take on West Alabama. The 5 p.m. contest is part of the Kickin' It For Kids With Cancer benefit for the Austin Hatcher Foundation.
