Tennessee Wesleyan University Women's Soccer Picks Up Road Win Against Brenau

The women's soccer team was back on the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game on Wednesday. The schedule took the team to Georgia for their game against the Brenau University Golden Tigers.

Through the first 29 minutes, the action between the two teams was played pretty evenly. The defense for the Lady Bulldogs was defending shots, while shots from Cristina Escrig, Krista Eik Hardardottir, and Maggie Aird missed the mark. In the 29th minute, the first goal of the game went on the scoreboard. Hardardottir scored the goal for TWU, giving them a 1-0 lead. The lead for the Lady Bulldogs grew with 13 seconds remaining in the first half. Hardardottir scored a goal on an Iris Moll assist in the 44th minute to make the score 2-0.

The offense opened the second half with a corner kick and shots by Hardardottir, Moll, Escrig, Claudia Lopez Del Pino, and Jill De Waal. The defense kept defending, keeping the zero on the opponents score throughout the remainder of the game. Jamie York, Daantje Klomp, and De Waal took shots which did not find the net, keeping the score 2-0 in the team's victory.

Laia Roch Font had five saves in the net.

The win moved the team's record to 9-4 overall and 8-2 in the AAC.
