Jameson Koch and Aubrey Long were recently honored as the deserving recipients of an academically competitive award, the Harriet Reeves Neff Award. This award is a full tuition scholarship that is renewable each year. The recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and at least a 30 on the ACT.

 The Neff Scholarship was established following a major bequest from the namesake, Harriet Reeves Neff. Neff was a daughter to a Tennessee Wesleyan alumnus, and her late husband, who was a state senator for Virginia, served on the Holston Conference Colleges Board of Governors. The Neff Scholarship is Tennessee Wesleyan’s top academic award and is awarded to two incoming freshmen demonstrating high academic leadership annually.

“Jameson exhibits the qualities we are always looking for in future Bulldogs and we are ecstatic to bring him into the Tennessee Wesleyan family,” said Danae Anderson, Admissions Counselor. “We are fortunate to have him as a student next year contributing to campus life.” Jameson is currently a student at Soddy Daisy High School in Hamilton County. He currently plays lacrosse at Soddy Daisy and will continue his athletic career with Tennessee Wesleyan. 

“I had a very strong feeling that Aubrey would be the strongest candidate that applied for the Neff,” said Laiel Upton, Admissions Counselor. “When I originally met her and her mom, I was impressed with how proactive they were with her admissions application, paperwork, etc. I am not surprised in the least that Aubrey won the scholarship.” Aubrey Long is currently a student at Polk County High School. Aubrey plays basketball, volleyball, and runs cross country as well as participating in several clubs.

Lacey Weese, Assistant Vice President for Financial Aid, and member of the Neff Selection Committee, said, “This year we had 10 applicants for the Neff award. The winners, Jameson Koch and Aubrey Long, are not only academically equipped for this top award but also have the personality to go along with it. Both have already proven to be a tremendous asset to this campus.” Jameson and Aubrey have demonstrated that they are not only deserving of this scholarship, but that they will be terrific Bulldogs when they begin class in the fall.
