The Lee baseball team completed Parents Weekend with a three-game sweep of visiting Frostburg State (Maryland) on Saturday afternoon. The Flames won the first game 12-4 and came back with a 6-1 victory in the final contest. On Friday, Coach Mark Brew's team battled for a 9-7 victory. The Flames improved to 13-10 on the year and will continue non-conference action on Tuesday at Carson-Newman College.

"This is one of the most complete weekends we have been able to put together as a team thus far," commented Coach Mark Brew after the three-game sweep.  "The results showed for us. Our pitching was solid all weekend, our defense was excellent, and our offense continues to show up and provide big-inning-type swings. We have a tough week coming up with four road games and it's going to take the momentum we created to have a good week."

Game 1 – Lee 12, Frostburg 4

The Flames broke away from a 3-3 tie in the third inning by scoring four runs and never looked back in the convincing win. Cameron Land (2-1) pitched six solid innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs. He struck out six, walked one and picked up the pitching win. Colt McKibben worked the next two innings. The lefty allowed a hit and a run. Jax Howard was impressive during his final inning. The right-hander walked the first batter he faced then proceeded to strike out the side.

Overall, the story of the day was solid pitching and defense. The Lee pitchers hit two batters and walked two. The defense turned a pair of double plays and played errorless baseball. In the meantime, the offense was banging out 11 hits with four going for extra bases.

Luke Hughes had probably the biggest hit of the game, a bases-loaded triple in the first inning. He finished the day with two hits, three RBI and a run scored. Dylan Standifer doubled and added a single. The junior left-fielder collected two RBI and crossed home plate two times. Cam Suto displayed his speed with a pair of three-base hits. The first baseman totaled two hits and two runs. Brandon Daniels ripped a shot over the right-field wall for his fifth homer of the season. He finished his day with a single.

The Bobcats used five pitchers. Jack Maruskin was the starting and losing pitcher. He worked only 2.1 innings, allowing four hits and six earned runs while striking out five and walking two. Ethan Kiple homered and singled for Frostburg State. Cy Probst also went deep and collected a pair of RBI while Stafford Allison followed with two hits and a run scored.

Game 2 – Lee 6, Frostburg 1

Dylan Standifer enjoyed his second straight game at the plate as did teammate Luke Hughes. Standifer drove in three runs with a homer to leftfield in the fourth inning that scored Hughes. Earlier Standifer singled in the second inning that pushed Ashton Simmons across the dish. The Flames scored four runs in that big inning.

Hughes also did his damage in the second frame when he singled home Nate Bynum and Isaac Quinones. Riley Black was credited with a hit and RBI while Josiah Miller, Quinones and Bynum were a part of Lee's seven-hit attack.

Jack Nedrow was the starting pitcher for the Flames and improved his record to 4-0. He pitched four innings of four-hit ball, allowing one earned run and striking out two. Greyson Linderman came on to pitch two innings and allowed three hits and no runs. He fanned a pair before giving way to Keegan Gagliardo who pitched an inning to close out the game.

For the Bobcats, Danny Estrada doubled. Ethan Kiple singled and scored his team's only run. Trevor Jones, Randy Steen and Christian Shertzer had the other hits. Max Proctor (1-1) was the starting and losing Frostburg pitcher. He worked two innings, allowing four runs but only one was earned. AJ Campbell followed for three innings, giving up three hits and two earned runs. Ben Vok came on in the sixth and did not allow a hit while striking out one batter.
