Lee University Eight Lee Athletes Earn GSC Winter All-Academic Team Honors

Eight Lee University Student Athletes were named to the Gulf South Conference Winter All-Academic teams the league office announced on Friday. 45 additional student-athletes were named to the Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Haley Schubert of the women's basketball team is a three time All-Academic team member. She has been on the honor roll all five seasons. She has a 4.0 GPA while earning a MBA. Schubert, the only active player in NCAA Division II with 2000 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists. She was First team all south region and was also a First Team All-GSC member this season. She finished her career 2nd all time in school history in points with 2284.
  
Liezl Theron of the women's track and field team, has a 3.74 GPA in Biological Sciences. She was on the All-Academic team last season. Theron battled through injury to take home gold in the Pentathlon and was named the GSC Outstanding Field Performer at the GSC Indoor Championship this year.
 
Deborah Rubin, another member of the women's track and field team, has a 4.0 while earning a Master of Science in Human Development. At the GSC Indoor Championship, she placed second in the weight throw  and registered a third-place finish in the shot put. At the NCAA Championships, she finished in 15th.
  
The third member of the women's track and field team to be on the All-Academic team is Lily Hare. Hare has a 3.61 GPA with a major of Interdisciplinary Studies. She has been on the cross country honor roll. At the GSC Indoor Championship, Hare would claim the top spot in the 800m as she raced around the track at 2:14.95 She was part of the distance medley relay team that set a GSC meet record time of 11:39.22. At the NCAA Championships, she was a member of the women's distance medley relay team that picked up a 10th-place finish to add to the Second Team All-American tally.
 
The fourth and final member of the women's track and field team to ear All-Academic honors is Kristen Blevins. She has a 3.56 GPA while earning her masters. She was on the honor roll last season. She won the 60 meter dash at the GSC Indoor Championships this season. The Lady Flames picked up a All-American Honors at the NCAA Championships in the 4x400-meter relay. They combined for an eighth-place finish of 3:47.15
 
Will Stone, a member of the men's track and field team, has a 4.0 GPA in Biochemistry. He was the cross country champion scholar athlete this season. He has been All-Academic in cross country and has been on the honor roll every semester. He has been a USTFCCCA All-Academic member as well.
 
Silas Eckenroad has a 3.7 GPA in Pastoral Ministries and is a member of the men's track and field team. He was an Indoor track All-Academic Team member last year, as well as cross country All-Academic team this past fall. He came in seventh in the GSC Indoor championship in the 5000 meter.
 
The final All-Academic team member is Cameron Stine. He has a 3.65 GPA in digital media studies while being a member of the men's track and field team. He is a multi-time honor roll member. He took second place in the heptathlon at the GSC Indoor Championships and second in the high jump.

All-Academic teams are voted on by the conference's Athletic Communications Directors. Athletes must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, have spent at least one year on campus at the institution. The teams are comprised of athletes that achieved combination of both academic and athletic success this season.

Athletes must maintain a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher to receive honor roll recognition. Overall, 1,198 student-athletes were acknowledged on the GSC Honor Roll list while 109 of those had a 4.00 GPA.
